Institute’s objectives

• the training and specialization of young artists and those in related specialties, as well as the promotion of the employment of young artists through collaborations in art, sciences, and productive bodies.
• the development of theoretical and applied research in the field of audiovisual arts, as well as the publication and promotion of research results
• the organization of actions to develop an audience and interest in modern and contemporary art.
• the provision of services, the planning, and the implementation of project proposals in collaboration with public and private bodies with the aim of recording and highlighting the natural features and cultural heritage.
• the promotion of educational and productive activities (education, tourism, product production) with the goal of strengthening the local society through the promotion of the region’s cultural heritage reserves.
• the strengthening of cross-border cooperation and mobility in the field of the arts and the promotion and diffusion of the results in the scientific community and in wider social groups.
• the synergy of UOWM departments with objects related to art, technology, and education with the aim of promoting the purposes of the Institute for the creation of exemplary visual and educational applications of high technology and their promotion for the benefit of society.
• scientific and research cooperation with the other institutes of UOWM and with scientific, cultural, educational, and social bodies to promote the purposes of the Institutes.
• the development and production of multiform audiovisual content, including movies, TV shows, radio shows, cultural productions, etc., that relates to the institute’s areas of expertise as well as the preservation and promotion of historical audiovisual content to highlight the rich cultural legacy of the Western Macedonia region and wider.
• the creation of online open databases (b.d.) of audio-visual material concerning the objects of the institute in the various individual fields, such as the work of active artists in Western Macedonia, thematic b.d. or b.d. in specific artistic fields, as well as the creation of digital databases of Greek and foreign artists.
